With a 3.8 GPA, I am committed to continuous learning, personal growth, and fostering a strong, supportive environment for my peers. Beyond academics, I actively engage in volunteering opportunities, believing that a vibrant and inclusive community is essential for student success. I value Sheridan’s diverse student body and strive to create opportunities that allow students to thrive, connect, and make the most of their college experience. If elected to the SSU, I will dedicate myself to enhancing student engagement, advocating for student needs, and fostering a true sense of belonging. Write about one of the current student issues you selected above. share why advocating for this issue is important to you:

“I firmly believe that a healthy mind and a healthy life are essential for students to thrive academically, socially, and personally. These three aspects form the foundation of an individual’s success, and without a strong balance among them, achieving one's full potential can become incredibly challenging. As a student myself, I understand firsthand how overwhelming it can be to juggle multiple responsibilities—managing finances, maintaining a proper diet, keeping up with academic demands, and navigating social expectations—all at the same time. The student phase of life is critical; it is the time when we lay the groundwork for our future. It’s a period of self-discovery, goal setting, and ambition, but it can also be filled with uncertainty, pressure, and stress. If students receive the right support, guidance, and resources during this time, they can push through and emerge stronger, more resilient, and well-prepared for the challenges ahead. However, without adequate support, stress and hardship can take a severe toll, potentially derailing dreams before they even have the chance to fully bloom. When discussing wellness, we often think of mental and physical health, but true well-being extends far beyond that. It encompasses a sense of belonging, social connection, and emotional stability, which are equally crucial in shaping a student’s journey. Feeling connected, heard, and supported is essential in an environment where students often face immense pressure. A strong, inclusive, and nurturing community helps students gain confidence, feel empowered, and develop a positive outlook on their future. In today’s world, students are not only dealing with academic stress but also facing external crises, such as the housing crisis and employment instability. These are two of the most fundamental needs for survival, and the struggle to secure stable housing and employment can create additional stress that affects mental and emotional well-being. It is no surprise that many students feel overwhelmed, uncertain, and anxious about what the future holds. In such challenging circumstances, prioritizing student health and wellness is more important than ever. This is why advocating for student wellness is a top priority for me. I am committed to promoting initiatives that support mental health, provide resources for physical well-being, and create spaces for students to feel safe, heard, and valued. Every student deserves access to the tools and support systems necessary to navigate these challenges successfully. By working together, fostering open discussions, and implementing proactive solutions, we can build a healthier, more resilient, and thriving student community.”
